New Kids on the Block
Borgata Event Center
Saturday, September 27 – 8pm
$85, $125 New Kids on the Block will be at the Borgata Event Center for a live performance on Saturday, September 27, 2008.
New Kids On The Block, who forever defined what the modern boy band would look and sound like, are back together for the very first time in nearly a decade and a half, and currently hard at work on their first new album since 1994. The band, comprised of Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood, became a phenomenon, selling over 70 million albums – including the back-to-back international number one records, Hangin’ Tough (1988) and Step By Step (1990) — and a series of crossover R&B, pop hits like “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” “Cover Girl,” “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time),” “Hangin’ Tough,” “I’ll Be Loving You,” “Step By Step” and “Tonight.”
The upcoming tour will be a mixture of older classics and brand new songs. “I want it to be redemption for the fans,” Mark Wahlberg explains. “I want them to feel entertained, to feel treated to something special. And I want them to be so satisfied by what they get that they’ll realize they weren’t crazy all those years ago — that they put their heart into the right place back then and that it was worth the wait to come back again.”
Carlos Mencia
Borgata Event Center
Sunday, August 31 – 7pm
$49.50, $59.50 Stand-up Comedian Carlos Mencia is one of today’s most lauded entertainers and feared comics and he will be at the Borgata Event Center on Sunday, August 31, 2008.
One of the most popular comedians in the country today, Carlos Mencia has the rare gift of insightful perception and precise delivery when addressing a variety of subjects, including ethnic stereotypes, racism and people's inability to laugh at themselves. Mencia's 2006 Comedy Central Original Stand-up Special, “Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached,” was the first Comedy Central Stand-up Special DVD to achieve platinum sales status. Mencia’s new comedy special, “Carlos Mencia ** Performance Enhanced,” will premiere on Sunday, May 18 at 9pm. Carlos Mencia’s “Mind of Mencia” debuted on Comedy Central in early 2005. Since then, it has become one of the strongest shows in the network’s history, averaging about 1.5 million total viewers. With the continued success of the show, the network has ordered a fourth season of the weekly hit, set to premiere Wednesday, May 21 at 10:30pm.
