The J Geils Band
Event Center
Saturday, July 11 – 8p.m.
$65

The J Geils Band will make their only area appearance at the Event Center on Saturday, July 11. In a career that has spanned decades, the Massachusetts rock band has recorded hit singles in the 1970’s including “Ain’t Nothin’ But a Houseparty” (1973) and “Musta Got Lost” (1974) and the 1980’s, first with “Love Stinks” (1980), then with their success with the Freeze Frame album which included “Centerfold” (1981) and the title cut. In addition to reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, “Centerfold” also reached #1 on the Rock Tracks chart for three weeks and topped the ARIA chart in Australia. The songs lists at #52 on Billboard’s All Time Top Songs and was an early staple on MTV.

Jet
The Music Box
Saturday, July 11 – 9pm
$29.50

Jet will bring its pure rock essence to The Music Box on Saturday, July 11 in advance of their third album, Shaka Rock. With their previous releases — 2003’s Get Born and 2006’s Shine On — Jet broke out of their native Australia and established themselves as a multi-platinum, international success story, merging the charisma and energy of classic rock and roll with just enough punk swagger and contemporary flair to create something uniquely theirs. Here at last is a band that’s returning the cool to rock and roll.

2009’s Shaka Rock reveals new dimensions of Jet while never losing the raw roots of Get Born or the grace and melody of Shine On,which together went on to make Jet an international band of style and substance. The album is highlighted by tracks like the first single, “She’s A Genius” a lighthearted take on the band’s appreciation of women, giving new meaning to the phrase, and “Black Hearts (On Fire).”

“The one thing I really love about this band is its honesty,” says lead vocalist and guitarist Nic Cester. “For better or worse every album is a real and accurate window into how we are reacting to our lives in that point in time which is why every album is uniquely different, and I think Shaka Rock is the most honest so far.”

Bob Saget
The Music Box
Friday, August 14 – 9pm
$40

Comedian Bob Saget brings his surprisingly edgy stand-up to The Music Box on August 14. Saget became a star in the 90’s when he was cast in two hit TV shows, Full House and America’s Funniest Home Videos. More recently, Bob has hosed NBC’s show “1 vs. 100,” stared in an episode of “Entourage” and released his HBO comedy special “That Ain't Right”, which is out on DVD.

In April 2009, he debuted in a new sitcom along with his co-star Cynthia Stevenson on ABC called “Surviving Suburbia.”

The Black Crowes
Event Center
Saturday, August 29 – 8pm
$49.50; $59.50

Blues-oriented hard rock jam band The Black Crowes will perform at the Event Center on Saturday, August 29. Having sold over 20 million albums to date, The Black Crowes have quickly become known as one of rock’s best live acts. The band’s cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle” and their acoustic ballad “She Talks to Angels” both broke the top 30 on the pop charts.

Their most recent release, Warpaint Live, is a dual disc consisting of the Warpaint album played in its entirety and a catalog of classics and cover selections. The entire performance contained on the set was recorded at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, CA. A DVD of the same performance has been slated for release later in the year.
