Record 1,873 Players Turn Out For Opening Event $2 Million Double Play Championship Event,

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (January 20, 2012) - Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa kicked-off its seventh annual Borgata Winter Poker Open tournament series in record-breaking fashion, with 1,873 participants and a $936,500 prize pool. The day-one attendance marks the largest turnout in the history of Borgata's poker program.
Many local and regional players took to the felt to showcase their skills amongst some notable poker names, including World Series Of Poker bracelet winners Mike Sica and Jason Young, Word Poker Tour Champions Will Failla and Dwyte Pilgrim, and accomplished professionals Adam Gerber, Lee Childs, Matt Glantz, Joey Brooks, Josh Brikis, Keith Crowder, Mike Castaldo, Sirous Jamshidi, Gordon Eng, Michael Dentale, Ryan Eriquezzo, David Zeitlin, Bob Hwang, Chris Tryba, Amanda Musumeci, Vinny Pahuja and Joe Simmons.
The Borgata Event Center will continue to host a wide array of tournaments throughout the 17-day, 55-event series, including Mixed Games, No Limit Hold'em, Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em, No Limit Hold'em 6-handed, Bounty and Heads Up events, all culminating with the $2 million guaranteed Borgata Winter Poker Open championship event (January 29 - February 3). The championship event features 30,000 in starting chips and is a Double Play Re-Entry event, offering participants who play in Day 1A and bust the opportunity to Re-Enter and, if they bust again, the chance to also play in Day 1B. As an added bonus, Borgata is offering $5,000 cash to each championship event chip leader at the end of Day 1A and Day 1B.
