ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (April 23, 2014) – Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa saw 328 participants enter into the prestigious $5 Million WPT World Championship, boasting the largest turn-out for a WPT Championship since 2009. After moving from Las Vegas to Borgata for the first time in its 12-year history, the World Poker Tour’s crowning event will feature a $5 million dollar prize pool and a $1.3 million first-place prize.

A litany of notable names participated in WPT’s paramount tournament series including Phil Hellmuth, Andy Frankenberger, Matt Glantz, Jeff Madsen, Mike Sexton, Christina Lindley, Kara Scott and professional football player Miles Austin all hoping to see their name etched on the WPT Championship trophy.

In addition to the WPT championship event, Borgata’s fifth installment of the Spring Poker Open has offered over $7.25 million in guaranteed prize money including its own $1 Million Guaranteed BSO Championship as well as a variety of games including No Limit Texas Hold’Em, 6-Hand Max No Limit, Pot Limit Omaha, Seniors No Limit Hold’Em and Ladies No Limit Hold’Em, as well as BSO and WPT Championship Qualifiers, bounty and survivor events. players have also been given the opportunity to win seats into the Spring Poker Open by competing in online tournaments throughout the month.

The 19-day, 51-event series will conclude this Saturday, as filming continues for the $5 Million Guaranteed WPT World Championship, which will be televised on Fox Sports Net.
