Spa Etiquette & Rules

Whether it’s your first time going to a spa ever, or just your first time going to the spas at Borgata, we’ve provided some helpful spa etiquette tips and rules. In order to make sure that you thoroughly enjoy your visit, please take a moment to review the following information.

Social Distancing & Facility Capacity Guidelines:
In keeping with social distancing and capacity guidelines, the spa lounges, salon and barbershop have been reconfigured to ensure all health and safety guidelines are met.

Making a Reservation:
To make a reservation at one of the spas, please call 609.317.7555. When making your reservation, you will be asked to provide a valid credit card to hold the appointment. Your credit card will not be charged at this time, and you are welcome to present a different method of payment upon arrival. Your credit card will only be charged in the event of a same-day cancellation.

Pre-Screening Questions:
After booking any spa, salon or barbershop appointments, a set of pre-screening questions will appear on your email confirmation. We request that you review these questions pertaining to possible symptoms of COVID-19 prior to your service.

If you respond Yes to any of these questions, we will cancel and reschedule your appointment without penalty.

Per guidelines by the Governor, masks are to be worn by guests and employees at all times. There are specific services that have been identified as exempt and the guest can remove their mask: facials, facial waxing, shaves or when face down on a massage table.

Cancellation Policy:
The treatments you select are reserved for you. Please make any changes or cancellations to scheduled appointments by 9pm the day prior. If we do not receive a call, you will be charged 100% payment for services not cancelled in the time allotted. This charge will be applied to the payment method provided at the time of booking or another valid form of payment.

Late Arrival Policy:
Arriving late may interfere with your treatment time and will reduce the integrity of the treatment. Late arrivals will also be responsible for the full cost of the scheduled service. As a courtesy to the next customer, all appointments will end at their scheduled time. Treatment times are not extended based upon late arrivals.

Under 18 Policy:
All customers must be 18 or older to use the fitness centers, spa facility or to receive a service in our spas, salon and barbershop.

Picture ID:
Please provide at check-in.

Expectant Mothers:
Those who are within their first trimester may enjoy one of a specific selection of facials. Please discuss with our staff member the facial options during your first trimester. Expectant mothers who have completed their first trimester are encouraged to inquire about other spa treatments that are available.

Spa Facility Access and Usage:
The spa relaxation lounges are available for those guests who have spa services booked. Guests will wait in the spa relaxation lounge before the start of their service.

Those guests who have only salon or barbershop services booked may not use the spa lounge facilities.

In accordance with current health and safety guidelines, the following areas and services within the spa lounges are currently unavailable:
  • Wet Lounges - steam room, sauna, whirlpools
  • Shower Facilities
  • Locker Facilities - robes or slippers will not be offered
  • Complimentary Food or Beverage
Use of the spa facility for non-spa customers may be available for an additional fee and is subject to availability.

Tipping for Spa Services
A 20% service charge is automatically added to your spa bill for convenience and acts as a tip for your treatment provider. If you would like to increase or decrease this amount, please notify the Spa Concierge and your bill will be adjusted accordingly.

Early arrival time is recommended, approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of a spa service. After checking in with the Spa Concierge, guests will be asked to wait in the spa relaxation lounge for their Massage Therapist or Esthetician to pick them up for their service.

Spa Attire:
Guests are recommended to wear easy fitting clothing and shoes. Guests will be escorted to their treatment room by their Therapist. The guest will be asked to remove their clothing and get onto the table in the treatment room while the Therapist waits outside.

Those customers receiving a massage or other body treatment are requested to shower prior to their appointment. While most of our spa treatments are enjoyed best without clothing, you are welcome to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Disposable bathing suits are available upon request.

What Should I Do With My Valuables?
Valuables like wedding or engagement rings and other personal items should be safeguarded by placing them in either your hotel room safe or in a safety deposit box, available at the hotel Front Desk.

Smoking or vaping in any area of the spa or within its facilities is strictly prohibited.

What Should I Do With My Cell Phone?
Cell phones or other call-making devices are not permitted in any spa or spa lounge areas.
